According to police, LL Bean employees said that at about 12:30 p.m., two men came into the store, grabbed two bicycles, and walked out with them without paying. The men fled towards School Street and eventually got themselves – and the bikes – into a car nearby.

A witness was able to provide the license plate to police, which was relayed to other nearby departments, and a Massachusetts State Trooper on a detail on 495 saw the vehicle pass him. Troopers stopped it on 495 South near Exit 7 and arrested the three people in the vehicle.

Police charged 40 year-old Ryan Tellier of Taunton, 42 year-old Donald Wolffe III of Brockton, and 26 year-old Melissa Benard of Mansfield with conspiracy to commit larceny and reciving stolen property over $250. Wolffe and Tellier were also charged with larceny over $250, while Benard was also charged with misleading an investigator.

Police also said that Tellier had several outstanding warrants, and that the vehicle, known to belong to Benard, was linked to several other shoplifting and larceny reports in the area over the last year.
