Police: Suspect caught packing cocaine

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Two men are facing drug charges, following a police raid on a suspected cocaine delivery service.

New Bedford police said 22-year-old Ailton Pina and 21-year-old Ismael Gomes were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning, following their arrests late Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, officers took Pina into custody shortly after he left his Nash Road apartment. Around the same time, detectives raided the apartment. Police said they found Gomes inside packaging cocaine.

Along with cocaine, police said they seized heroin, prescription pills, a .223 caliber round of ammunition, and more than $30,000 cash.
