WEST WARWICK, R.I (WPRI) — Investigators found no signs of foul play in the death of a West Warwick man discovered Thursday night behind the apartment building where he lived.
Emergency responders were called to the rear parking lot of Monsignor DeAngelis on Wakefield Street after a resident reported finding the man lying face down in a grassy area.
Efforts to revive the man – identified as Richard Toles, 70 – were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at Kent Hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play, according to police, and the cause of Toles’ death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
Police said Toles was found in a small, wooded area that runs along the parking lot and leads to a small stream and a path to the CVS parking lot. The resident who called told police Toles was known to use the path to walk to the store.
