WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) – A memorial honoring former and present members of the West Warwick Police Department is one step closer to becoming a reality.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the memorial site on Main Street Monday.
The memorial will include a bronze statue of a police officer and child and will be built next to the FOP lodge.
The land was donated by the town.
The union tells Eyewitness News that they expect the memorial to be completed within 6-8 weeks.
