Kashi sunflower seed products recalled for possible listeria contamination

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Health is warning consumers of a product recall including Brown & Haley, Maranatha, and Kashi products.

According to health officials, the recalled sunflower kernel-containing products, which include trail mix, granola, sunflower seed butter and snack bars, could possibly be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

The specific products being recalled can be identified by their UPC codes and best-by dates.

Listeria  monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
