(WPRI) — A pediatric medical food company is voluntarily recalling some of its nutrition beverage mix because the wrong size measuring scoops were included in the cans.
Nature’s One of Lewis Center, Ohio, makes PediaSmart Dairy Vanilla nutrition beverage powder for children between 13 months and 13 years old. Some 12.7 ounce cans of the mix were sent out with a scoop that was too small, so that only kids who drink it will only get 60 percent of the labeled nutritional content per serving. The cans should have gotten scoops to measure 32 cc, but instead some of them received 20 cc scoops.
There’s no health risk, unless the drink mix is used as a sole source of nutrition for a child.
The affected cans were shipped to multiple states, including Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. They can be identified as follows:
- Lot number 3141515 PDV 5357
- Lot number 3151515 PDV 5357
- Lot number 3151515 PDV 5360
(the “D” may appear to be an “O”)
Affected cans will have a UPC of 7 16514 88101 0, and a “use by” date of 1 DEC 2017.
Not all cans that may match the above criterion may have received the wrong scoop. If the scoop reads “20 cc” on the bottom, consumers can call Nature’s One at (888) 227-7122 Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Eastern time for a replacement.
