Wake held for Fall River teen killed driving to prom

FALL RIVER (WPRI) — A wake to honor Hannah Raposo was held Tuesday at the Auclair Funeral Home in Fall River from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Raposo, 18, was killed in a car crash Friday on her way to the Durfee High School prom.

According to police, Raposo was driving with one male passenger when the car rolled over on Route 24 near Exit 4 around 6 p.m.

Both were transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where Raposo was pronounced dead. Her passenger is in stable condition, according to state police.

Raposo had been named the Boy’s and Girl’s Club Youth of the Year in April and planned on competing for State Youth of the Year on Sunday and Monday in Western Mass. She had been an active member of the club since she was 5 years old.

A candlelight vigil was held for Raposo by the organization Monday night.

Fall River Boys and Girls Executive Director Peter McCarthy said Raposo was supposed to attend Bristol Community College in the fall to study art and biology.
