Arrest made in Woonsocket stabbing

Carissa Chatlien, 32, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon in the stabbing of another woman. The victim is reportedly in stable condition.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – An East Providence woman has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly stabbing another woman on Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to an apartment building on West School Street at 4pm for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a black female on the second floor landing bleeding from an apparent stab wound to her abdomen.

Officers learned that Carissa Chatlien, 32, got into a verbal argument with the victim inside a second floor apartment.

The victim was pushed out of the apartment by Chatlien.

The victim eventually went back inside the apartment to retrieve personal items.

When the victim was leaving, Chatlien accused her of taking too long and stabbed her.

Chatlien was arrested on the scene.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, is in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
