NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Four people were arrested Thursday night, after New Bedford police said officers witnessed two separate drug transactions about a half-hour apart in the city’s South End.
Police said officers saw one man selling cocaine to another around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Ruth and McGurk Streets. Officers moved in, and arrested 22-year-old Xavier Thompson and 49-year-old William Reed. Police said they also seized 20 bags of cocaine and $173 cash.
About 30 minutes later, police said officers saw a man selling Percocet tablets to a woman in a car near the intersection of Rockland Street and Acushnet Avenue. That led to the arrest of 38-year-old Victor Perez and 24-year-old Sandra Carter.
Police said all four suspects were scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a variety of drug charges.
