MONTGOMERGY, N.Y. (WPRI) — New York State Police have arrested three people from Rhode Island they say led them on a pursuit last week.
Authorities say they pulled over Jason Swan, 31, of Woonsocket for speeding on I-84 in the town of Montgomery, New York. During that traffic stop, the troopers determined the car he was driving had been reported stolen in Rhode Island. While Swan was being questioned, troopers say he drove off.
The pursuit lasted approximately 12 miles. At one point, the suspects’ vehicle went airborne after crossing the highway median. The chase eventually came to an end after Swan hit a State Police cruiser. The trooper in that vehicle was not injured.
Swan is charged with possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, resisting arresting, and fleeing a police officer. His passengers, Jeremy Arias, 22 of Woonsocket, and Brittany Campbell, 19, of Rumford are facing similar charges.
All three are due back in court on June 20.
