CENTRAL FALLS, R.I (WPRI) — Police in Central Falls were able to make two drug-related arrests on Wednesday.
Police say the pair was arrested for narcotics trafficking and controlled substances conspiracy within a school zone.
Victor Lugo, 21, and Mecca Abdul-Hasib, 20, were detained after an authorized search was conducted of their apartment on the second floor of 148 Washington Street.
According to police, investigators located a sizable amount of crack cocaine and marijuana during the search.
They were officially charged with: manufacture and delivery of cocaine, manufacture and delivery of marijuana, distribution of narcotics near a school zone/playground, and two counts of controlled substance conspiracy. Both were held overnight and arraigned in the 6th District Court of Providence on Thursday.
According to a news release, Lugo, who is also accused of being a bail violator, was ordered held without bail. Bail was set at $25,000 with surety for Abdul-Hasib, who is due to appear in district court Aug. 23.
