Coventry raccoon tests positive for rabies

COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — Coventry police issued a warning Friday that a raccoon tested positive for rabies in the town.

According to police, the raccoon reportedly had contact with dogs in the area of Sharon Drive Thursday afternoon.

An animal control officer captured the critter and brought it to the Department of Health, where it tested positive for rabies.

Police urged residents to make sure their pets are vaccinated for rabies.
