PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Providence City Council has given final approval to the city’s budget.

A final vote was held Tuesday night. On Monday, the council gave the $718 million spending plan the initial go-ahead but not before five councilors voiced their concerns.

The budget will now head to Mayor Jorge Elorza’s desk, who has already voiced his support.

The new fiscal year begins July 1.
