PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Gas prices in Rhode Island are down two cents this week.
AAA Northeast found in its weekly survey released Monday that the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular gas has dropped to an average $2.29.
Rhode Island’s price is four cents lower than the national average. The price in Rhode Island at this time last year was 51 cents higher, at an average $2.80 per gallon.

AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $2.18 and as high as $2.39.
Across the border in Massachusetts, AAA Northeast’s price survey released found self-serve, regular selling for an average of $2.24 per gallon, 6 cents less than a week ago.
The Massachusetts price is 9 cents per gallon lower than the national average for the same grade, and 52 cents lower than it was a year ago.
AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $2.10 per gallon and as high as $2.49.
