100 high schools students honored by Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owners in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts hosted a luncheon at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Tuesday June 21 to congratulate 100 local high school seniors who were each awarded $1,000 Dunkin’ Donuts college scholarships.

The scholarship winners are college-bound students who achieved academic excellence while demonstrating a commitment to leadership and community involvement. The 100 recipients were chosen from a competitive field of more than 1,000 applicants.

Rhode Island Education Commissioner Dr. Ken Wagner spoke to students and families about the importance of education. Commissioner Wagner was appointed to lead Rhode Island’s elementary and secondary education system in July of 2015.

Since launching the scholarship initiative in 1995, local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees have awarded more than $2 million in tuition assistance grants to help students further their education.
