Police arrest suspect in North Smithfield home invasion

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) – Police have arrested a suspect in Sunday’s violent home invasion on Victory Highway.

According to police, Lee Gervais, Jr., 26, is facing the following charges:

  1. Breaking and entering of dwelling without consent
  2. Assault on a person 60 years or older
  3. Felony larceny
  4. Disorderly conduct
  5. Vandalism

An elderly man was allegedly assaulted by Gervais and another man on the morning of June 19. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

North Smithfield police tell Eyewitness News that a pistol was stolen during the home invasion.

Police said Gervais was taken into custody by members of the Woonsocket Police Department and was turned over to authorities in North Smithfield.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Third District Court in Warwick. According to police, Gervais is currently on bail for charges of breaking and entering and possession of a weapon other than a firearm.
