2nd round of 2016 CVS Health Charity Classic underway

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) — After an exciting opening round at Rhode Island Country Club, some of the world’s top golfers teed off Tuesday for the second round of the 18th Annual CVS Health Charity Classic.

Two teams – Billy Andrade/Bill Haas and Lexi Thompson/Bryson DeChambeau – sat atop the leaderboard at 9 under par going into Tuesday’s action.

Tuesday also featured a “Celebrity Group” consisting of former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, former Patriot Andre Tippett and Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum.

The “Celebrity Group” took to the course at 8:30 Tuesday morning. Charles Kelley, Andre Tippett, and Tim Wakefield joined the CVS Health Charity Classic for a round of golf.

Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade are again hosting the event to raise money for local charities.

With 11’2″ on hole 17, LPGA superstar Brooke Henderson won Monday’s closest-to-the-pin contest and earned $25,000 for Serve Rhode Island.
