PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Two charities started by Vincent “Buddy” Cianci are merging into one in hopes of keeping the late mayor’s memory alive.

Cianci’s nephew, Dr. Brad Turchetta, said the family is combining the “Vincent A. Cianci Scholarship Fund” and the “Vincent A. Cianci Library and Research Center” into the Cianci Educational Foundation.

“Out of our family’s great personal loss, and our community’s great public loss, great opportunity has presented itself,” Turchetta said.
