Chief: Freetown volunteer firefighter fired for social media comments

FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) — A Freetown volunteer firefighter has been fired following an incident that happened in connection with a massive house party earlier this month, the town’s fire chief confirmed Friday.

According to Chief Gary Silvia, Kyle Grenier reportedly made inappropriate comments on social media about the family who lives in a house where an unruly party drew more than 1,000 guests.

The New Bedford Standard-Times reports Grenier posted the following on Facebook:

“I can see the next fire call will be this house on fire and I’ll make sure I can’t find the hydrant lol…

Nope just make sure no water so no more house party’s with black Boston people.”

Chief Silvia confirmed to Eyewitness News the home is owned by a black family.
