Man charged with killing ex-girlfriend’s husband with car

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man has been charged with the city’s fourth murder of the year, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to police, Axel Morales is accused in the death of 38-year-old Cesar Alonzo over the weekend.

Alonzo is the husband of Morales’ ex-girlfriend, Karla Estrada.

Morales, 21, is accused of hitting both Estrada and Alonzo with Estrada’s car outside of the couple’s Sears Avenue home early Sunday morning. Police said he then intentionally ran over Alonzo a second time, causing fatal injuries.

Along with murder, Morales is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and robbery, according to police. He was arraigned Tuesday and ordered held without bail.

The incident remains under investigation.
