CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Firefighters responded Friday morning after flames broke out inside a Cranston house.

The fire started just after 6:30 a.m. at a multi-family home on Pawtuxet Avenue and took about 20 minutes to put out.

“These kinds of buildings you got to get them quick or they start getting in the walls and then you lose them, so they made a good stop,” Deputy Chief Paul Valetta praised crews.

Firemen had to vent the attic to stop the fire from spreading up, according to the Cranston FD.

Everyone got out of the house safely and nobody was hurt.

Valetta tells Eyewitness News that fire started in a third floor bedroom. The cause is still under investigation.
