Driver charged with DUI after wrong-way crash in Coventry

COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man was taken into custody Sunday night following a wrong-way crash in Coventry.

According to police, Joseph Moore is accused of driving drunk and causing a crash on Tiogue Avenue that sent two people to the hospital.

Police said they attempted to pull over a minivan driven by Moore when it crossed the center line and struck a Jeep head-on.

The male driver and female passenger of the Jeep were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Moore, 57, was arrested and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence, driving to endanger – resulting in personal injury, and other traffic offenses.
