Providence home hit by gunfire twice in the same day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A woman told Providence police she believes her Public Street home was shot up twice Sunday because her son got in a fight with men who were gambling on the porch.

Providence police were first called to 501 Public Street shortly after midnight Sunday for reports of shots fired. The woman told police she was having a birthday party when an unknown male fired four shots toward the home. No one was injured.

Witnesses said the suspect was a passenger in a gray Nissan Murano.

Thirteen hours later, another person contacted Providence police claiming a man wearing a white t-shirt and blue bandana around his face fired three or four shots into the house again. Once again, not one was injured.

When officers spoke to the woman who they talked to following the first incident, she told them her son told two black males to get off their porch the day before because they were gambling. The men returned with a third black male and a fight broke out. She said she believed the fight was why her house was hit by gunfire twice on Sunday.

The woman said all three of the men were in their twenties.

No arrests have been made.
