FBI undercover firearm purchase leads to arrests

COVENTRY, R.I (WPRI) — An undercover purchase by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force was able to help the Coventry Police and the FBI work together to make three arrests.

According to a news release, Cory Terilli, 19, Travis Capron, 20, and an unnamed juvenile, 16, all of Coventry have been arrested and charged in connection to breaking and entering and stolen firearm.

Police said that on June 8, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force was able to reach out to Coventry Police after making an undercover purchase of stolen items from a house break in Coventry.

One of the items was a stolen Taurus 9 mm handgun with ammunition, according to police.

A news release explained that the FBI members also had advised that the house break had not yet been reported to police and they were able to identify suspects.

According to police, later on June 8, a home break was reported on Jade Road where the victim said that among the items stole was a Taurus 9mm handgun.

Based on the investigations, police say they were able to arrest the three suspects.
