Five firefighters suffer from heat exhaustion battling North Kingstown fire

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The heat and humidity took its toll on firefighters fighting a North Kingstown fire Friday.

Five firefighters were taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion after battling against a fire, said the fire chief.

According to the fire department, the fire started just before noon in a triple decker on Rose Hill Road.

The fire chief also said the fire jumped to a house next door but was quickly put out.

One other person was injured. No word yet of how the fire started.
