New Bedford man dies in highway crash

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) — A New Bedford man died early Friday morning after a single-car crash in Dartmouth.

According to Massachusetts State Police, the driver lost control of the vehicle on I-195 East in the area of Exit 12, causing it to roll over onto the guardrail just before 3:30 a.m.

Police said the driver – identified as 32-year-old Carlos Santiago – was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The left lane of the highway was closed to travel for some time, but has since been reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
