JOHNSTON R.I. (WPRI) — Residents in the town of Johnston have a new recreation center to look forward to.
Six elected officials broke ground for the 26,000 square foot faculty Tuesday.
The center, located on Atwood Avenue next to the high school, will have one hardwood court and two rubberized courts.
Funding for the facility is coming from a lawsuit settled with the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation.
The building is set to be operational by the end of the November or early December and will be available for year-round activities.
