Cranston man facing OUI, gun charges

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WPRI) – A Cranston man is facing several charges following a car crash on I-91.

According to Massachusetts State Police, a driver of a 2000 Mazda crashed into a median barrier in West Springfield on Saturday, September 3rd around 3:00a.m.

State troopers allege the driver, 25-year old Nicholas Beard of Cranston, was under the influence of alcohol.

Upon a search of the car, troopers found a loaded .40 caliber Ruger SR40c handgun.

Beard was charged with OUI, negligent operation of a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
