More than $1 million in drugs seized from Providence home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Members of the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force arrested a Providence man Sunday with 23.5 kilograms of narcotics with an estimated street value of $1.5 and $2 million.

Police executed a court-authorized search warrant at the second floor apartment on 185 Pavilion St.

Raul Ramirez, 32, was arrested and charged with numerous drug and weapons charges.

Ramirez was also charged with distributing drugs near a school zone, because his home is a block from the Young Woods Elementary school and down the street from Roger Williams Middle School.

Police found the following items inside Ramirez’ home:

  • 22.5 kilograms of cocaine
  • 1 kilogram of heroin
  • $1,619 in cash
  • (1) Glock Model 19 handgun
  • (2) digital scales and drug packaging materials
