KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks ran for three touchdowns as Albany (N.Y.) beat Rhode Island 35-7 on Saturday.
Ibitokun-Hanks had 178 yards on 27 carries for the Great Danes (2-0, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association). His first score came with 1:19 left in the first quarter and his longest was a 28-yarder with 27 seconds to go in the first half that gave the Great Danes a 14-7 lead.
His third score was a 20-yard touchdown that extended Albany’s lead to 21-7 late in the third quarter. Three plays into Rhode Island’s next possession, Rayshan Clark intercepted a Wesley McKoy pass — his second for the day — and ran 25 yards for a score, making it 28-7. Michael Nicastro intercepted McKoy again and took it 80 yards for another Albany touchdown, sealing the win.
McKoy was replaced after his third interception by Paul Mroz who finished the game for the Rams (0-2, 0-1).
