PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that forced several college students from their home overnight.
Officials said the flames broke out at the home on Ives Street in Providence at about 1 a.m. Wednesday. The residence houses several students from Brown University.
Crews were called to the scene after residents on the third floor smelled smoke.
It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to get the flames under control.
“They made a quick attack to the third floor,” said Battalion Chief Ken Cirelli. “The guys did a great job.”
Officials believe the fire may have been accidental, but the cause remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
