TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A second boater involved in last week’s boat crash in Taunton has died, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said.

According to the DA’s office, Stephen Joy, 67, of Bangor, died from his injuries at Rhode Island Hospital.

Mark Greene, 39, from New Hampshire, was also killed in the crash Saturday at Watson Pond. Eyewitnesses said three hydroplane vessels collided around 1 p.m. during the Bill Giles Memorial Regatta.

The third boater, 72-year-old Alex Poliakoff, suffered only minor injuries.

Earlier this week, Eyewitness News spoke with Poliakoff by phone. He said he was close friends with Greene.

“He was a great father, just a good person. I have nothing but good feelings for Mark,” he said.
