SOMERSET, Mass. (WPRI) — Charges have been filed against a driver accused of causing a deadly crash on I-195 back in February.

Philip Imprescia, 55, of Fall River, was driving on the highway in Somerset when he hit a filing cabinet lying in the road, according to police. Imprescia’s SUV rolled over and he was ejected from the vehicle. Mass. State Police said he was not wearing his seat belt.

Investigators tracked down the person they believe dropped the filing cabinet, 59-year-old Dennis Pavao.

Prosecutors say Pavao didn’t secure the cabinet in the back of his vehicle, which fell out and led to the accident.

Pavao has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligence, leaving the scene of a crash, and misleading a police investigation. He’s due back in court Nov. 10.
