Walking to end Alzheimer’s

It’s a walk to help support a cause near and dear to many of us.

More than 5 million Americans, including 23,000 in Rhode Island alone, live with Alzheimer’s.

While research is being conducted locally, there is no cure. The number of people with early onset Alzheimer’s is even more devastating.

Irene Rianna of Smithfield was diagnosed at age 55 and passed away two years ago.

Her family is still dealing with the pain of not only losing a loved one, but at such a young age.

Donna McGowan, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island, and Eyewitness News Evening Anchor Mike Montecalvo joined the Rhode Show to talk about some upcoming events that will help raise money for the disease.
