FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Safety is on the mind of everyone preparing for Thursday night’s Patriot’s game, as well as, the main event and seeing which quarterback takes the field.
Massachusetts State Police said they are boosting security measures at Gillette Stadium for the game and state troopers are also increasing the frequency of their patrols at public transit stations and regional transportation centers statewide.
While these extra security measures are in place, local officials said there have been no threats to Massachusetts.
“We do have counter-terrorism subjects open up in all states of the country. We are aggressively pursuing those investigations but there is nothing active or immediate that I’m aware of at this point in time,” Harold Shaw, Special Agent in Charge of Boston FBI said.
Meanwhile, Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is listed as doubtful heading into Thursday night’s game against the Houston Texans. Garoppolo was again a limited participant in practice Wednesday as he continues to recover from the right shoulder injury he sustained late the first half of New England’s win over the Dolphins last week.
