New Bedford police seize 7 pounds of marijuana in raid.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) – Two people have been arrested following a drug raid in New Bedford.

The arrests came after police executed a search warrant at a home on Chauncery Street on Monday.

As a result of the raid, police found over 7 pounds of marijuana, packaging materials, and $88,000.00 in U.S. currency.

$38,000.00 was found in the home, and the other $50,000.00 was found in a safe deposit box.

41 year old Victor Irving Rivera and 49 year old Mary Luz Arroyo were arrested at the home.

Both Rivera and Arroyo are facing several drug charges including, possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws

Both defendants were on SSI and living in subsidized housing while possessing $88,000.00 and over 7 lbs of marijuana.
