EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Hurricane Matthew remains a powerful Category 4 storm in the Caribbean. It’s impacts on parts of the Caribbean could be catastrophic.
With winds of 150 mph and higher gusts, Matthew will be turning northward today with a heading toward the northern Caribbean. Haiti, Jamaica and Cuba will bear the brunt of the storm, but southern Haiti, specifically, could be seeing a catastrophic amount of rain.

The storm is expected to move through Southern Haiti bringing 1 to 2 feet (yes feet) of rain to that part of Haiti. In addition extremely strong winds and large ocean waves will pound the northern Caribbean Monday and Tuesday. Various computer model guidance places the storm continuing on anywhere from the Gulf Coast to the North Carolina Coast to a track completely off the East Coasts.
