Police: Cranston student kept handgun in locker

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A 15-year-old student brought a handgun into Cranston High School West Monday and kept it in his locker, according to Cranston police.

Col. Michael Winquist said police arrested the student Friday, after someone alerted the school resource officer and administrators at Cranston West.

According to police, the 15-year-old is associated with three Cranston West students who were arrested Tuesday on weapons charges. Police said the gun the teen had in his locker was the same one officers seized Tuesday afternoon.

The student arrested Friday will face firearm charges in Family Court, police said.
