One person reportedly trapped after car slams into tree in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Three people were brought to the hospital after a late night crash in Attleboro on Wednesday.

First responders were called to the intersection of South Avenue and West Streets just before midnight for a report of a car into a tree.

A 2012 Honda Sedan was traveling east on West St and crossed the westbound lane, going off the road and striking a tree head on at the ‘Y’ intersection with South Avenue.

The driver, 24-year-old Danny Concul of Attleboro was brought to Rhode Island hospital and is in critical, but non-life threatening condition. The front passenger, 19-year-old Violeta Echeverria of Attleboro, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

18-year-old Chelsea Petersen was sitting in the rear passenger seat and was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with life threatening injuries. She had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters. Petersen is currently in critical condition.

Concul, the driver, has been charged with driving to endanger, according to police.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Attleboro Police along with the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit. Police said that neither alcohol nor speed has been ruled out.
