PAWTUCKET, R.I.(WPRI) — Pawtucket police have arrested two men in connection with a bank robbery in the city last month.
Sal Brogno, of East Providence, and Derek Decosta, of Pawtucket, are accused of holding up the Broadway branch of Pawtucket Credit Union, according to police.
Both men have been charged with second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Police said a man entered the bank on the afternoon of Sept. 20 and waited in line for the next available teller. He then demanded all of the teller’s cash.
The teller handed over the money and the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. The suspect did not show a gun and there were no reported injuries.
A surveillance image of the robber was released by authorities shortly after the incident, prompting a statewide search.
Police said Brogno and DeCosta were apprehended Wednesday following a joint investigation between members of the Pawtucket’s Major Crimes Unit, the FBI, and the Warwick and Central Falls Police Departments.
