Westerly school employee responsible for leaving child on bus resigns

WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — The Westerly school district employee who left a child on a school bus alone has resigned, according to Superintendent Roy Seitsinger.

The parents of the 5-year-old girl called for the Superintendent to take action against Peter Denomme after the incident in September.

A letter from the parents’ attorney on Thursday stated: “It is shocking that you need to be instructed that this is the action you must take in response to an employee who, through a clear dereliction of duty, harms a minor child.”

Denomme resigned on Thursday night.
