Driver facing several charges after accident in West Warwick

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in West Warwick responded to a series of crashes yesterday.

It started on Route 33 just before 5:30 p.m.

According to police, an adult male driver hit another car, near the Speedway Convenience store.

That same driver then fled the scene and struck a sign about 200 hundred yards down the road before slamming into a house.

He was brought to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Police say he is under arrest and faces criminal charges including, duty to stop in an accident, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and other motor vehicle charges.

Officials say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the incident.

Police are still investigating .
