Fmr. Chopmist fire chief indicted on sex assault charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The former chief of the Chopmist Fire Department was arraigned Monday afternoon on several sexual assault charges.

A Providence County grand jury reported out a secret and sealed indictment, charging Timothy Homerston, 52, of Hope with four counts of second-degree sexual assault, three counts of simple assault, and one count of indecent exposure.

According to the state Attorney General’s Office, Homerston sexually assaulted three adult men sometime between February 2015 and February 2016.

Eyewitness News first reported Homerston was under investigation in March.

Rhode Island State Police investigators arrested Homerston at his home on Bunny Trail Monday morning.

He’s due back in court Oct. 24.
