Newport man arrested in N.H. triple-stabbing


(WPRI) – A Newport man has been arrested for a triple stabbing at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire Sunday.

19-year-old Terrence Simmons, Jr. from Newport was wanted for a triple stabbing from earlier in the morning.

Chief Stephen Lefebvre with the Plymouth Police Department says police received a tip regarding the suspect’s location around 3 p.m. Sunday.

The police department acted on the tip and found the suspect at an undisclosed location.

Simmons was found to be in possession of various illegal drugs upon his arrest. He has been charged with three counts of second degree assault, three counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Simmons refused bail and will be arraigned at District Court in Plymouth Monday morning.

Police say this is still an active investigation.
