Police: Threat at Durfee HS not credible

Evidence gathered during the investigation determined the threat to be fabricated, police said.

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Fall River police and school officials have determined a shooting threat made in a group text message Monday night is not credible.

Parents were notified of the threat and officials determined it did not require closing the school.

Police conducted a sweep of Durfee High School Tuesday morning and did not find anything.

Additional officers were also on hand to ensure safety.

According to police, the threat was made up. School officials said the person responsible will face punishment.
