PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Children at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence have a new place to play thanks to a unique donation.
Teens from career and technical high schools across the state finished installing a solar tree house at the South Side Boys and Girls Club on Louisa Street.
“I’m still learning to put up lights, and it felt awesome to do it,” said Toll Gate High School student Nico Doyle.
Gov. Gina Raimondo called the project a win-win at Friday’s ribbon-cutting event.
“This is an amazing program, where we’re taking kids from high schools all over Rhode Island and allowing them the chance to have hands-on learning,” she said. “Every student in Rhode Island should graduate from high school ready for college or ready for a job.”
The donation was made possible by the Rhode Island Builder’s Association.
The tree house was previously on display at the Rhode Island Home Show.
