Pawtucket home destroyed by fire Saturday

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Pawtucket firefighters battled a major house fire Saturday morning.

The house on Whittier Road caught fire around 5 a.m. Saturday and was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

A witness who was passing by at that time caught the fire on camera and told Eyewitness News that nearby homes appeared to have been damaged by the flames.

Neighbors tell Eyewitness News the house had been newly built, but hadn’t been sold yet and was vacant at the time of the fire.

Pawtucket fire officials have not yet released any other information about the incident.
