Dartmouth police now carrying Narcan, report first use Saturday

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) – The Dartmouth police department used Narcan on an overdosing person for the first time Saturday.

According to a department spokesperson, an officer administered the nasal spray on a 25 year-old Dartmouth man on Anderson Way at about 8 p.m.

The man was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for further treatment. Police had no other information on his condition.

Dartmouth officers were equipped with the life-saving drug, which can reverse the effects of a drug overdose, just last week, joining many other local departments in carrying it.
