Dad speaks out after crash kills son, nephew

MIDDLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Four men who attended a Massachusetts college were among the five victims killed in a car crash just after midnight Monday.

Our Boston affiliate WFXT learned that the victims were headed back to school after spending the weekend visiting family.

Kip Diggs told WFXT his son Kraig and Kraig’s cousin, Jordan Galvin, were in the car.

“We’re not any different than any other family in a tragedy like his,” Diggs said. “We’re hanging in there. We have faith. We don’t really understand. It’s in God’s hands. We just gotta have faith.”

According to Diggs, the two men had just graduated from Barnstable High School.

“My son passed love constantly, wherever he lit up the room. Him and Jordan,” Diggs said.

Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. They have established that a 31-year-old Fall River woman was driving south in the northbound lane of I-495 in Middleboro and hit the other vehicle head-on.

The state of Rhode Island installed radar systems to detect wrong-way drivers entering exits last year. Since the installation, 66 wrong-way drivers have been detected and none ended up crashing.
