FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) – A man armed with a knife tried to hold up a Fall River convenience store Monday, but fled empty-handed after the clerk called for help.

According to police, it happened at the Tedeschi’s Food Mart at 28 East Main Street at about 8 p.m. Monday. The clerk told police officers that a man had walked in and asked for a pack of cigarettes. The clerk “got a bad feeling,” according to police, and asked the man for identification. AT that point the man demanded all the money in the register.

The clerk couldn’t open the register and so the man took a knife out of his pocket, at which point the clerk yelled for help and the man fled.

Another employee at the store identified the suspect as the same man who robbed the store on October 9.

Anyone with information on the man, who has not been caught, should call the Fall River Police Department at 508-676-8511.
